Emergency Department

On Monday, December 4, 2000 we opened the doors to our new Emergency Department.  We are now equipped to take even better care of the 350 patients we treat each month.  The new emergency department consists of six beds in five rooms.  One of these rooms is a trauma room and one is a cardiac/trauma room.  We also have the benefit of much new equipment including stretchers, instrument carts, defibrillator, and heart monitor.  This heart monitor is part of a system that allows doctors to check their patients' vital statistics not only from their bedside, but also from the Special Care Unit or the Surgical Unit.

New patient rooms and equipment are only a part of the picture that is our new emergency care facility.  The new department has been designed with, not only excellent medical care, but comfort in mind.  There is a receptionist on duty 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to direct and assist patients and family members.  A nurses' station is located directly in the emergency department so members of the nursing staff are readily available at all times.  Also available to family members is a private consultation room and a lounge.

We are very proud of our new facility and very grateful to our generous supporters who made it possible.  Through this type of improvement, we continuously renew our commitment to our community to provide the best healthcare possible.
