Laboratory

Our laboratory serves over 1300 patients and performs over 10,000 different tests each month, and is accredited by the College of American Pathologists.  Services are provided on both an inpatient and outpatient basis.  Laboratory orders are accepted from any physician.  The ordering doctor does not need to be on hospital staff or practice in the local area.

Laboratory Services

The lab performs routine chemistry and therapeutic drug monitoring,  drug screens with immediate results, transfusion service, routine hematology and coagulation testing, basic diagnostic immunology services, urinalysis, and microbiology.  Some of these standard procedures are enhanced by a newly acquired state-of-the-art chemistry analyzer, the Dimension AR.  The lab is equipped with cardiac testing capability which delivers results in less than thirty minutes, allowing physicians to quickly evaluate patients experiencing chest pain.

Laboratory Staff

The members of the lab staff have an average of over 13 years of service with  Pana Community Hospital.  These dedicated people include certified medical technologists and a certified phlebotomist.  The staff challenge themselves to provide accurate and efficient services with a gentle and personal touch to each of their patients.  The laboratory is open for routine outpatient services Monday through Friday from 7:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. and on Saturday from 7:00 A.M. to 12:00 Noon.  A member of the lab staff is also on call 24 hours a day 7 days a week for emergency situations.
